I have experience tutoring students in elementary, middle, and high school. In late April of 2023, I completed an internship with African Community Education in Worcester, Massachusetts. African Community Education is a non-profit organization providing students from African refugee backgrounds with academic assistance, social-emotional education, physical education opportunities, and arts enrichment. The subjects I tutored were academic English, United States history, and basic mathematics. Additionally, I would take the time to read books with the students. Reading to the students and asking them to read passages in the book aloud helped them improve their English fluency.

Hello! I’m Marley and I offer assistance with reading comprehension and writing skills for academic English classes. My lessons are for elementary and middle school students (grades 1-8) as well as those who speak English as a second language. I bring lots of enthusiasm to my lessons and make sure each student is comfortable with expressing their needs and wants during our time together. Students do not need to have structured homework assignments to work with me. I am happy to help them sharpen their literacy by reading books about things they are interested in with them. For the sessions without homework, I can familiarize the student with new words they see in the book through writing exercises and provide them with the opportunity to write a summary of what they read.
At the beginning of each session, I help the student I am working with create a goal they want to achieve that day. After the goal is established, I create a list of steps we need to take to achieve that goal. We fol
